Credit Card Vending

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Have you ever scanned a vending machine and your eyes landed on the treat that you wanted. You then reach into your pocket, pull out your wallet and open up the fold only to find no cash. Now your out of options, or are you? Some vending machine companies have started to use a credit card mechanism. Now you will be able to swipe that plastic money to get the treat you desire.

With the use of credit card mechanisms added to your vending machines do you think the revenue will be higher? Most people nowadays don’t like to carry cash with them, so those people will now have the added convenience of purchasing snacks and sodas. Reaching out to more people can only increase the revenue, right? So now you would ask your self would it be worth installing the credit card acceptor on your machine, or even buying new new machines? I would have to go with yes. I know I have been at a vending machine where I’d love to get a cold beverage but was out of cash, think of all the people that have been in those shoes before.

The best place to have these machines with credit card acceptors would be at air ports, where people are moving quickly from location to location and don’t have time to stop in a shop but also don’t have the cash with them, but still need a quick snack or drink.

So with this new technology, I think that this will only help the vending industry.

Vending Machines in China

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

China’s vending industry is booming. Vending machines are rather new in China, but they are now everywhere. In China, they have vending machines for anything you could ever imagine.

In China, they have got vending machines for your regular everyday use, not just snacks and soda. It is now possible to go grocery shopping in China without even going to a store. For meats and veggies, they have “honor” vending machines, where you have to place your money into a locked box after picking out what you want. This takes a lot of trust from the owners of these machines to trust the people to place their money in the box.

Another unique vending machine in China is rice washing vending machines. Farmers can take their hauls of rice to these machines and wash all of their rice easily.

China put a ban on tobacco vending machines though, the worlds largest market for cigarettes now have a ban on the vending machines that carry them. You can still purchase all of your alcohol needs through vending machines now.

Did you get in a fight with the wife or girlfriend on the way home from a guys night out? No problem, stop at a flower vending machine for some fresh roses to put a smile on her face.

The list goes on of the awesome and convenient machines located and China.

Rising Prices

Thursday, July 31st, 2008

Today’s economy isn’t as stable as it has been before. With the rise of gasoline prices, everything else rises. So the question is what do you raise your prices to. This is very hard to determine, some companies will make you remove your machine if you raise the prices to high so this makes some people think twice before raising the price.

So the question is how are you going to recoup your rising cost of product AND your $4 average for a gallon of gasoline. So if you are going to raise the price, you are asking yourself how high is too high. I have seen soda ranging from $1.25 to $1.50. The average is around $1.35, much higher and you most likely wouldn’t get a good response unless it is a high traffic area.

The price of snacks have gone up to about $.90. Corn syrup price has raised so this affects the price of regular candy products and sodas.

If you have a larger route, of 100+ machines then it could be worth looking into a very fuel efficient car such as a hybrid or a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla which both receive about 35 MPG.

Medical Marijuana Vending Machines

Monday, July 28th, 2008

Marijuana vending machines? Medical Marijuana that is. It seems there is a vending machine for everything these days. One of the newest is marijuana vending machines, located in the city that originated the drive through fast food business. L.A, California.

These machines are 24 hour machines. This new machine offers people the convience and privacy of picking up their medical marijuana. These vending machines are located in a building with tinted glass and a security guard stands at the front door. In order to purchase the marijuana you must use your finger print and a prepaid magnetic swipe card. This allows the machines to dispense marijuana to the patients in need only.

Not only are these machines convenient and easy to access, it is even cheaper. The machines only allow one ounce per week per user. The single vends are in increments of 1/8th and 2/8ths. The price is $20-$40 cheaper than buying it regularly.

The FBI has a problem with these machines though, they would like to know who services the machines and if any illegal practices are being used to service the machines. The Drug Enforcement Agency has been shutting down marijuana dispensaries across California for felony distribution charges.

Robert Miko says “Marijuana is used to medicate, not to get high”.

Now with medical marijuana vending machines, the opportunities are endless with the vending machine industry.
